The process of forming a loop

The yarn forms a loop, which is then connected vertically and horizontally to form a knitted fabric. So loop forming is the basic process of knitting. The process of forming a coil can be divided into the following stages in sequence: unwinding - moving the newly formed coil (referred to as the old coil) from the needle hook to the needle rod; Pad yarn - feeding the yarn onto the knitting needle; Bending yarn - bending the yarn into a coil shape; Belt yarn - move the newly padded yarn or newly bent coil into the needle hook; Closure - closing the needle opening of the knitting needle; Ferrule - Attach the old thread loop to the needle hook with the needle mouth closed; Linking - The new yarn or coil meets the old coil inside and outside the needle hook; Detachment - the old coil is detached from the needle hook and placed on the new coil; Loop forming - forming a closed and specified size new coil of yarn; Pull - Pull the new coil away from the coil forming area. This new coil will become the old coil in the next coil forming cycle. There are two types of looping processes: needle weaving and weaving. During the knitting process, the various stages of loop formation are carried out in the above order. During the knitting process, the bending of the yarn begins with the shedding of the loop and proceeds simultaneously with the loop forming stage. On some knitting machines, each needle completes the looping process in sequence; There are also some knitting machines where the looping process is carried out simultaneously with each needle in a row

Warp knitting

Using multiple yarns to form loops along the longitudinal (warp) direction of the fabric at the same time

Warp knitted fabrics cannot be manually woven.

Warp knitted fabrics can be divided into two categories:

One is Raschel fabric, which is mainly characterized by large patterns, rough fabric surface, and many eyelets, and is mainly used for decorative fabrics;

The second type is tricot fabric, which has a fine and dense fabric surface with few patterns and colors, but has a high output. It is mainly used for wrapping fabrics and printed fabrics. This type of fabric is mostly used for chemical fiber filaments, otherwise the production efficiency is extremely low.

Weft knitting

Use one or more yarns to form loops along the horizontal (weft) direction of the fabric

Weft knitted knitwear can be formed with at least one yarn, but to improve production efficiency, multiple yarns are generally used for weaving.
