Anthracite, commonly known as white coal or red coal, has a high fixed carbon content, low volatile yield, high density, high hardness, high ignition point, and does not emit smoke during combustion. It is black, hard, and has a metallic luster, with a shell like fracture surface. When burned, the flame is short and smokeless, without coking. Generally, the carbon content is above 90%, and the volatile matter is below 10%. There is no gum layer thickness. The calorific value is approximately 6000-6500 kcal/kg.
