Biotechnology

Currently, biotechnology mainly uses enzyme treatment technology to treat wool fibers. Biological enzymes are favored by the textile industry due to their specificity and high efficiency. However, biological enzymes are still in the early stages of treating wool fibers, and the effect of enzyme preparation treatment is not satisfactory. It has become an urgent task to cultivate biological enzyme products with significant treatment effects, better environmental adaptability, and stable components. Zhu Huajun et al. studied the effects of dichloroisocyanurate, protease, and MTG enzyme treatments on the strength, alkali solubility, and friction coefficient of wool fibers. The research results showed that the first two reagent treatments would cause damage to wool fibers, leading to a decrease in fiber breaking strength, a decrease in surface friction coefficient, and an increase in alkali solubility; After processing with MTG enzyme, the strength of the treated fibers shows a slight recovery. However, as a blank control (untreated) sample, the degree of repair after treatment is weak; With the increase of MTG enzyme dosage and treatment time, the reinforcement effect of the enzyme and the slight difference between the clockwise and counterclockwise directions on the fiber surface will first increase and then weaken

Physical methods

Physical methods for processing wool fibers include plasma treatment technology, wool stretching and refining technology, etc. Plasma is an ionized gas like substance composed of atoms deprived of some electrons and positive and negative ions generated by ionization of atomic clusters. After energetic particles in the plasma impact the material surface, the energy disappears and the material surface is modified. The energy exchange between plasma and materials mainly relies on radiation and particle collisions. Low temperature plasma technology is a processing method that only uses plasma as the exciter and fibers as the processing object. During this process, no waste products are left behind, and the reactions that occur only stay on the surface of the fibers. Not only does it not affect the properties of the fibers themselves, but it can also endow the fiber surface with new characteristics. The enormous amount of energy released during the reaction process allows for the achievement of goals that traditional chemical methods cannot achieve at lower temperatures. At the same time, this method also has some shortcomings: there are many factors that set the reaction conditions for the experiment, the dependence on the treatment device is high, the reaction process is relatively complex, and some technical issues on the treatment device still need further adjustment and improvement, which cannot achieve enterprise production.
