As one of the two most important mandatory standards in China's footwear industry, the GB 30585-2014 "Technical Specification for Safety of Children's Shoes" was officially implemented on January 1, 2016. This standard is the second safety technical specification related to footwear in China, following the GB 25038-2010 "Technical Specification for Health and Safety of Rubber Shoes". The implementation of this standard is of great significance for guiding the production and processing of domestic children's shoes, as well as the sales, inspection and supervision of imported shoes As a consumer group of children's shoes, children's foot function is not yet mature but lively and active, their cognitive ability to the outside world is limited but full of curiosity, and their health and safety are vulnerable. Therefore, the healthy growth of children is closely related to the quality of children's shoes There are significant differences in the physiological and psychological characteristics of children of different age groups. Therefore, the standard has different requirements for children's shoes of different age groups, which are divided into infant shoes of 3 years old and below, and children's shoes of 3 years old and above to 14 years old

1. Requirements for children's shoes:

The requirements for children's shoes in the standard include three main parts: physical and mechanical safety performance, odor, and chemical limit substances.

. The physical and mechanical safety performance includes corresponding requirements for children's shoe nail tips, broken needles, accessible sharp edges, and steel hooks, as well as effective heel height requirements to avoid the impact of adult children's shoes on their bone development. In terms of chemical limit substances, in addition to corresponding limit requirements for hexavalent chromium, decomposable harmful aromatic amine dyes, formaldehyde, and heavy metals (arsenic, lead, cadmium) in leather and fur, there are also limit requirements for phthalates and dimethyl fumarate in footwear products, which are consistent with EU and US regulations

2. Requirements for infant and toddler shoes:

Infants and toddlers like to explore the external world with their hands and mouth, and will pull, suck, and bite on the things they hold. Their skin is more tender, and their organ functions are not yet fully developed, making them more susceptible to injury.

. According to the habits and characteristics of infants and young children and their ability to cope with danger, the standard has added requirements for the size, tensile strength, and N-nitrosamine in rubber components of detachable accessories to meet the requirements of children's shoes. In addition, the requirements for phthalates are stricter than those for children's shoes

Scope of application:

Suitable for shoes made of various materials, suitable for daily wear by children aged 14 and below (shoe size no more than 250mm).

. Not suitable for children's rubber shoes

Due to direct contact between leather products and the human body, free chromium ions can easily enter the body with sweat, leading to skin damage, various diseases, and even cancer. 7GB/T 17592 (Textiles) GB/T 19941 (Leather and Fur) Content of Degradable Harmful Aromatic Amine Dyes. Degradable Aromatic Amine Dyes refer to dyes synthesized from carcinogenic aromatic amines, commonly known as "prohibited azo dyes". After decomposable aromatic amine dyes are made into clothes, they cannot be distinguished from the appearance of textiles and can only be detected through technical testing, and cannot be eliminated. This type of dye can cause various malignant diseases and absorb carcinogens when in contact with human skin. GB/T 2912.1 (Textiles) GB/T 19941 (Leather and Fur) Formaldehyde Content Formaldehyde is a colorless gas with a pungent odor. Textiles containing formaldehyde will gradually release free formaldehyde during people's wearing process, causing respiratory and skin inflammation through contact with the human respiratory tract and skin, and also causing eye irritation. The total content of heavy metals in 9QB/T 4340 is particularly harmful to children. Once excessively absorbed by the human body, it can accumulate in the liver, bones, kidneys, heart, and brain, causing irreversible huge damage to health. 10GB/T 26713 Dimethyl fumarate Dimethyl fumarate can effectively inhibit the growth of mold, but it is easy to volatilize. After contact with the human body, it can cause skin itching, allergies, redness, and burning, and is more serious and difficult to effectively treat. In severe cases, acute respiratory problems may occur. 11GB/T 24153 Rubber components contain nitrosamines. Rubber products usually undergo a high-temperature vulcanization process to form stable nitrosamines. Due to the characteristics of rubber materials, nitrosamines are difficult to remove through washing and soaking, such as the presence of nitrosamines that can still be detected after boiling the pacifier for 10 minutes. The pollutant risk information integration system managed by the US Environmental Protection Agency classifies nitrosamines as B2 carcinogens. 12ISO/TS 16181 Content of Phthalate Esters Phthalate esters are widely used as plasticizers, which can interfere with endocrine function, affect reproductive function, cause malignant tumors, and have a greater impact on children.
